"Rural Recreation Capital of Alberta"
The Village of Acme was incorporated on July 10th, 1910. The name "Acme" was derived from the fact that it was located at the north end of the CPR rail line, or the highest point on the map at that time. It is located 83 kilometers (52 mi) northeast of Calgary, Alberta, and was the first village to be incorporated in the Municipal District of Kneehill. Acme is home to a Bank of Montreal branch, NAPA Auto Parts store, Royal Canadian Legion branch, lumberyard, one restaurant, a bar and pub, two gas station convenience stores, a hair salon, campground, Seniors' centre, curling rink, outdoor skating rink, ball diamonds, soccer field, golf course, and swimming pool.
Acme has a population of 730 people.
